Volcanoes National Park – Volcano Art Center to Jagger Museum

On Saturday, a rainy Saturday, I went for a walk from the Volcano Art Center in Volcanoes National Park to Jagger Museum. It’s about a three mile flat, easy walk. It’s so beautiful. The sulphur beds are colored in deep brick and mustardy to lemony yellow. It’s other worldly as you walk along the edge of Kilauea Iki, a huge volcanic crater through a rain forest of native Hawaiian ferns and trees. The birdsong of the apapane (a Hawaiian honeycreeper) accompany you the entire way…even in the rain.
