Costa Rica – Guanacaste

We recently worked on a program in Guanacaste, a large province in Costa Rica with a small population. The wildlife there is amazing and the rainforest is steamy. Mornings were normally sunny and beautiful and then, without warning, thunder, lightning and rain would come – wild thunder storms. It was so hot – several showers a day, camera fogged up, sweaty hot.

These raccoon-like animals are coati. Females and babies travel in groups and the males travel alone.

Howler monkeys are the loudest mammals in the world. Sounds like a huge monster coming out of the forest!

Kris got this shot of this jabiru, a large stork.
